We SSLS has been contacted by Candice Smith, a person that Bill Cleary had hired the day of his accident and she will be taking over the reins of this benefit WITHOUT any outside or internal conflicts. Mrs. Smith is a very good person to take this over for the BETTERMENT of Marion County Speedway. She is a good ambassador of the sport and has worked with several tracks in the past with promoting and promotions in general. I feel her judgement will not be construed in any way or influence by any 1 individual and will help Marion County "THE BULLRING" Speedway to continue on the right course of growth. Mrs. Smith is a god bearing family woman and loves all aspects of racing and sometimes EVERYONE including myself loose site of this. Bill told me about him hiring her that afternoon, I told him that was a very good step in the right direction that we need to take for the track. She has propose a 2 day event for this benefit with regular racing Friday night and benefit racing on Sat. and Sat. night FOR ALL CLASSES of cars that race in this great state of Florida...even if you do not race there will be plenty of games and food during the day and into the evening....I have told her I would really like to speak to Bill before I gave her and answer as to what we will be doing as far as our series goes...A lot has been said over the past week that has almost made me turn completely against a sport that I cherish so deeply and have been doing for over 40 years...as I said at the beginning of this I suspended the series (NOT GIVE UP) until Bill has recovered from injuries and I personally needed to step back so I could take a deep breath because I was so close to seeing another friend almost taken away which would have been 6 in the past year including my life long best friend this past Jan.1....I hope with sincerity that we all can rise about this and take a look around ....life is way too short not to...Wayne Davis (owner of the SSLS)
